Communication analyses tips

Overview of mondofragilis group

Its companies, its services and its activities

Our companies offer media and communications strategies and services that cause change in policy, operations and behaviour. Our work ranges from campaigning materials for the World AIDS Campaign to films coproduced with the Clinton Foundation, IARC/WHO, PACT/IAEA or the American Cancer Society, printing on behalf of several UN agencies, design services for many more, or defending women's rights with the World YWCA. As we grow, we seek opportunities that can give us, and our civil society and United Nations partners and clients, the necessary resources to make lives better.

We provide media and communications strategies.

mondofragilis network is our umbrella media and communications company. It serves the United Nations family, civil society organisations, the public sector and better Earth projects. It offers a full range of public awareness, advocacy, behaviour change, fundraising and internal communications analyses, strategies and services. It also offers sustainable development shifting strategies to corporations or organisations wishing to adopt a more socially responsible stance.

mondofragilis network also operates the group's online portals including mondolibrary and mondolanguage.

Their slogan is: messages must cause change.

We offer creative services.

messaggio studios is our design and production agency. It offers the full gamut of creative services. It designs, draws and photographs. It offers desktop publishing and translation services in multiple languages. It designs web sites and hosts them on its own internet servers. It delivers high-end 3D images and animation. It produces, films and edits broadcast television documentaries and public service announcements. messaggio studios is staffed with talented, passionate young artists and headed by a gender-balanced art director tandem.

Clients can opt for individual services or can contract messaggio studios on an agency basis segmented either on a campaign per campaign basis or a calendar contract; annual contracts were conceived to be competitive and cost-efficient for our clients.

We have our own printing facility.

naturaprint is the group’s printing facility. Nestled in the Alps, the facility uses recycled papers or papers from managed forests and vegetable-based inks. Internally, naturaprint adheres to the highest environmentally-sound operational and business standards. It is managed by a two-woman team; a unique attribute in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

We make and sell better Earth products.

mondofragilis alternatives is a better–Earth products company whose slogan is: choices must cause change. The alternatives team is open to a variety of partnerships ranging from private label to licensing.

We have national representatives.

mondofragilis companies have national and regional representatives on three continents. They sell mondofragilis network services, mondofragilis alternatives products, naturaprint printing, messaggio studios creative work and all other mondofragilis group services or products. Their account executives are responsible for all client support. Among them mondofragilis africa and mondofragilis américa latina. We are actively seeking additional partner representatives.

We develop projects and partnerships.

We thrive on partnerships and project development. We have coproduced television programming, launched joint internet sites, devised collaborative schemes with local authorities for their eco-tourism development or co-published books or other printed materials. These partnerships motivate us and ultimately deliver greater results. As long as the process is based in media and communications knowledge and in better Earth philosophies, we are interested.

One of our services

Print and replication services

In most people's minds, printing encompasses a wide palette of services from platemaking right through to distribution. In between, there are many steps. naturaprint offers them all but with a twist. We can handle a printed project's entire lifecycle from electronic file to direct marketing delivery. What's more, we can do it either for short high-quality runs or for very long newsprint type output. And we'll deliver right to your doorstep, whether in Geneva or around the globe. We also handle replication and duplication of digital media including tape, CD and DVD. The twist is, that we do it all using environmentally-friendly materials and methods. And this is not new. Our facility, which opened in 1948, started going green in the mid 1980s long before any other printer would dare do so. But back to our actual services. These are some of the services offered by our facility.

Economic fallout
12/10/2008 4:04 pm

By now we all know that the global economy is in a stalled tailspin. That's what happens when you fly at 30,000 feet without looking at the fuel gauge. Millions worldwide are losing their savings, homes, retirement funds and jobs. As we sit here and point fingers, others are about to suffer too. The sad thing is that they are not the ones with the multi million dollar homes, fast cars and yachts. They are the disposessed of lower resource countries. The dwellers of Rio's favelas and Nairobi's Kibera are soon going to get hit as international aid dries up and their own governments are unable to provide the meager assistance they may have been providing to date.

Indeed, there is every chance that the international public interest community will be hard hit by this crisis. I cannot imagine governments and companies not scaling back their financial support of global institutions such as the United Nations or large civil society organizations. In weeks to come I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open to see if there is any sign of such a mutiny but it sure smells bad for now.

The follow up question is: if the international community gets hit, will all get hit the same? Will WHO see its budget tightened? How about FAO or WMO? How about donations to your national Red Cross? Worse, will food banks and blood banks dry up? It may seem like a far stretch but such things could happen. Actually, on second thought, the blood banks will likely benefit as people who need money decide to barter blood for bucks. But will there by any bucks to pay them with?
