Biannual report 2005 - 2006

It has been two very busy years for the team. We have grown. We have met many new people. We have travelled to all continents shooting films, advising the United Nations, hiring staff and doing research. Our public service announcements have been praised and even shown on Times Square in New York. Our products are selling well. Our strategies are in demand. Our technology is improving.

But we are still not perfect. We make mistakes. We sometimes make unwise decisions. So we try harder. Every meeting, every memo, every forum discussion has an obsessive goal: to provide our clients and partners with greater performance. We really want to make a difference. We really want to support our stakeholders - especially those who are committed change.

The type of change we all want will not come by chance. It will come if enough of us want it. Can we? Can enough people aim in the right direction? There is only one way to find out. That’s right, we have to try.

In closing we would like to thank our many clients, partners and sponsors. Over the past two years you have been loyal and supportive. Many of you -- too many to mention -- have said really nice things about us and we thank you for that. It’s nice to get a thank you note. So, on behalf of the whole mondofragilis group, you have our commitment that we will do our best throughout 2007 and 2008. We will try to make flawless documents. Our designs will strive to be light and meaningful. Our strategies will aim for cost effective impact. Our analyses will aspire to be unbiased and straightforward.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading this first biannual report. In al fairness, it wasn’t even our idea. A client, and good friend, suggested we do it. She told us that we had done so much in the past couple of years that it would be good to let people know. We hope she was right. We think so anyway, so she’s getting a really big box of chocolates for Christmas.

The team.

This section includes a variety of articles that describe our views during these two years, various activities and a summary of our structure as it stood end-2006, so as you read the articles, keep in mind that some information may be outdated.

Our world

It is not getting simpler. As citizens, we have too many choices in the supermarket. We have excess vacation options. Our children are vulnerable to an increasing number of threats. Our jobs are no longer secure. Our relationships are fragile.

A mission

As we have grown, brought in new staff and diversified, our activities have evolved, but not our mission.

05-06 highlights

Companies with passion are always busy. They work for clients, but they also work hard to improve themselves. We've done both over the past two years.

Companies and divisioins

The mondofragilis group is made up of specialised companies. We intend to continue our growth using the same strategy. At time of writing, the group had five companies and two divisions.

Essential services

We realise that we do quite a bit. Our range of services is broad and spread across several companies. Fortunately, some of our services are more in demand than others. We thought it would be a good idea to highlight those below giving you slightly more detail. We, of course, invite our prospects and clients to ask us for more details on any of them.

Upcoming projects

By the time you read this articles, some of these projects may have been started, finished or abandoned. Please keep in mind that this content was written late-2006.

Technical update

We have found that staying up to date, technically, makes us perform better. In the design and printing business, we also have no choice. As our clients upgrade, so must we.

Trends

2005 and 2006 have been calm years in the public interest media and communications field. There have been no major revolutions. Blogging, and other forms of social computing, though in the news, have not really changed civil society or the United Nations system. At best, social computing has affected the US political landscape. But in the rest of the world it has not had a major influence. Other internet developments have also had little incidence on campaigning. SMS campaigns, community forums and other online tools have been talked about but none have really taken off. At this time, despite our own efforts, there is no real online community in civil society. In any case, there are none that could rival or even approach games forums or other youth and lifestyle oriented ones.

Client feedback

Mondofragilis group staff work hard to make a difference. We try to go the extra mile. If we need to work late, we do it. If we need to make a delivery at 5AM we do it. If we make a mistake, we go to great lengths to recover. Fortunately, and in all honesty, we do not get that many complaints. And fortunately, we get many more thank you’s. Here is a small sample from the past two years.
