mondolibrary photographer saved from flames

Witchcreek fire in Southern California

2007 Witch Creek Fire passes through San Pasqual Valley near the Orfila Winery. CalFire Engine 2756 from Amador/El Dorado sets back fires to slow the fast moving fire.

During last month's wildfires in southern California, mondolibrary photographer Nick Morris found himself surrounded by flames in the infamous Escondido blaze. Fortunately for him, a team of courageous fire fighters broke through the flames just as he was giving up.

KNSD TV says: "Nick Morris was shooting photos of the Witch Fire the morning of Oct. 22 near Escondido when he said he underestimated the blaze. He told NBC 7/39 he thought he was shooting his pictures from a safe distance, when suddenly he realized he was alone -- the firefighters had left the area."

The full story can be read on MSN at this link.

Nick's images of the fire can be found on his mondolibrary pages here .

When hot is too hot

Hey Nick. Incredible story. When Michael told us about it we were quite freaked, frankly. As you might know, I've had my share of hot moments in war zones but never in a fire. It must be an incredible feeling. I almost drowned once, I'm guessing it's closer to that in feeling than anything else? In all cases, glad you're safe and thanks for the great images. Impressive!
