V2.2 has arrived
About six months ago, the messaggio studios design team, at our master analyst's request, began a revision of our entire style. It was time to readjust our look to our new philosophy. This website is the result of that quest.
As the mondofragilis group continues to grow, we are continuously reviewing our philosophy. Are we simply service providers? Do we always agree with our clients? Are we really for change or do we just want to make a living like so many others?
For those who know us, the answer is likely evident. We do not always agree with our clients; just as they sometimes do not agree with us. Fundamentally, that's proof that we are committed to change. We are committed to a civil society and a United Nations whose messages and actions are relevant. It's insufficient and wrong to simply produce content and tools. It's important to make certain those messages are on trend and have the necessary impact to be noticed and acted upon. And when we feel the client is off track, we say so.
How, you may ask, does this apply to our design. How, you may also ask, did we ultimately settle on what we present today. You can believe us when we say that it was not quick and easy. The process and first drafts were the object of lengthy scrutiny.
We started the quest via our logo. Our logo has obvious significance. It's that kind of logo. You can tell it's more than a couple of squiggles. To some it means that Earth is in peril. That it is breaking apart. To others it is positive sign. It shows that our efforts matter and can put things back together again. A third group sees our logo as an indication of instability. This feedback is the result of research. It means much to us.
In looking for the design elements that we would use we had to pick which of the above visions was most applicable. We chose the third option: instability. We saw instability as the cause for change. If you care, when faced with instability, you seek to redress it.
The challenge was to marry 'change' to design. What our art directors suggested was warmly received by the management team, other staff and some of our clients who were asked to comment. The design was simple and sober.
As we publish this article, we are a few hours away from printing our next batch of brochures, cards, letterhead and other tools including our new international dates calendar. We look forward to showing them to you in coming months.
In closing, a warm thank you to Florence and Franck for the design work. To Fabrice, Thibaut and Romain for upgrading the site. To Séverine, Christian, Jean-Roger and Thomas for printing the new materials. To Richard, Caroline and Gilles for content review and writing.
