New UNI Global Union logo is unveiled

messaggio studios, mondofragilis group’s design studio, were delighted to have been chosen to redesign the graphic chart and logo for UNI Global Union. The concept of the new image was to put human beings at the centre, and the logo was officially introduced on March 2, 2009.
As they approach their ten year anniversary, the Global Union for skills and services (UNI Global Union) would like to thank their 20 million members, the largest collection of individual trade unions in the world. The messagio studios team have played an important part in this success. Constantly working, collaborating and listening to UNI, our artistic directors proposed their ideas. The concept of placing human beings at the centre of the message was quickly adopted as the ideal solution.
Should the logo represent a man or a woman? Naked or clothed? Standing or sitting? After much reflection, messagio studios were proud to unveil their creation. “We chose the silhouette of an androgynous character in order to avoid a sexist choice,” said Florence Castaing, our artistic director. “UNI Global Union is a group of city unions, and the tall standing figure shows the height of the city and its buildings. The new logo is much simpler, to make the message clear.” This change also reflects the willingness of unions to adapt to a world without borders, where they will have a greater influence in the workplace, in business and in international institutions. Our professional satisfaction is even greater since the American members of UNI decided to celebrate the unveiling of the new logo in Panama with a short video that has been placed on YouTube. It is, of course, always a great pleasure for the creative team to have the fruits of their labour recognised and appreciated far and wide.
