Women are 2... pre-release

The second film in the Women are... series will be distributed in its prerelease form at the 16th International AIDS Conference 13 to 18 August 2006. The DVD being distributed at the Toronto AIDS conference includes the broadcast version of Women are... leading change (the first episode) as well as the pre-release version of Women are... finding solutions (the second film).

The film offers both simple and more comprehensive solutions to the HIV and AIDS pandemic as it pertains to women. No topics are taboo, from stigma and discrimination to lack of education and empowerment.

This film, coproduced by the World YWCA and mondofragilis network, in introduced by the Honorable Mary Robinson, President of Realizing Rights, a New York based NGO. Mary Robinson is a former President of the Republic of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The film also features Kathleen Cravero, currently assistant administrator of UNDP and former Deputy Executive Director of UNAIDS in Geneva. Guest panelists include the Deputy Vice President of South Africa and other women leading the fight against AIDS.

This 70-minute documentary was filmed throughout Africa. The studio sequences were filmed in the WCC library in Geneva.
